Veterans Day is a holiday that is observed on November 11th every year. The holiday  honors veterans which are people who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces, living and dead. Veterans Day was once Armistice day, and the name changed in the year 1954.

You do not have to look very far for a veteran, because there is one right here at PGMS. Mr. Tomberlain was a Captain in the Army from 1999-2005, during Operation Iraqi Freedom in Kuwait. He had multiple jobs as a transportation officer, platoon leader, company executive officer, assistant training officer, future operations officer, and Battalion adjutant. When asked what his motivation was to join the military Mr. Tomberlain answered, “I was adventurous, and I wanted to live away from Texas for a while.”  Thank you Mr. Tomberlian for serving our country.
To honor local veterans, a parade is scheduled at 11:00 am. on November 9th in Downtown Texarkana.  It will be at the intersection of East Broad and Hazal Streets. Come on November 9th, and show our Veterans the respect that they deserve for serving our country!
