New Boston Invitational Basketball Tournament

Pleasant Grove Middle School (PGMS) 7th grade Lady Hawks participated in the annual New Boston Invitational Basketball Tournament on Saturday, January 18, 2020. During the first game against New Boston, the Lady Hawks won with a final score of 33-21. The top scorer was Kenasia Henry, 10 points. Another leading scorer was Shelby Glover knocking down 8 points. The second game, the Lady Hawks played Liberty Eylau. The Lady Hawks blew out the Lady Leopards with a score of 43-6.  Once again Kenasia Henry lead the team with 12 points and Reese Gibbs followed with 11 points.  


On the 8th grade side, the Lady Hawks first contested Liberty Eylau. PGMS won 41-18. The highest scoring player was Riley Williams with 14 points. During the New Boston game, Pleasant grove dominated posting a final score of 43-7. The highest scoring players being Julia Hackleman with 10 points and Hali Hargrove with 13 points.


Here is a quote from seventh grade a team player Reese Gibbs, ”Basketball is so much fun because I get to play a sport I love and be with my friends. My Favorite part of basketball is when we all rally together to win the game. A big part of our success comes from our hard-working coaches. They taught us and encouraged us so that we could be successful. I love my team and I am so lucky to be able to play with them.”


Eighth grade A team player Julia Hacklemen had this to say, on the tournament, “It was a physical game but we came out on top as always.”
